Jamie and Danielle wanted a Festival-style Wedding and came across the perfect setting – a working farm in the rolling picturesque Derbyshire hills. They chose St Mary’s Church in Marple Bridge for their Ceremony, with a beautiful service and lovely gardens for their group photos. It was here that mini-buses were also provided to ferry the guests over to Thornsett Fields Farm for the Reception.
Bride Prep
Danielle and her team prepared for the day at the house she shared with Jamie and Maisy, their 18 year old cat. The front room was turned into a busy ‘salon’ with hair and make-up professionals hard at work, with Danielle, her 4 bridesmaids, Mum and Goddaughter Emily (the Flower Girl) all getting ready under the watchful eye of a very fluffy grey cat.
After lots of gift exchanging, breakfast sandwiches and a couple of glasses of fizz, everyone got into their dresses as 3 white taxis arrived to take everyone to the church.
Groom Prep
Jamie, his 2 Best Men and 3 Groomsmen got ready together at the Old Mill Inn at Chinley, a lovely tranquil setting with a beautiful old stone cottage. Danielle had sent a stunning watch as a gift to her husband-to-be, and the boys toasted the day with a nifty swig from their hip flasks.
The Ceremony
St Mary’s Church in Marple Bridge sits on a steep hill, and is a quaint little church with beautiful gardens. Everyone took their seats as the 3 white taxis pulled up outside. Some of Danielle’s pupils had been invited to come along and sing a couple of songs during the Ceremony, so they headed upstairs to the balcony where they had a great view of the wedding about to take place below.
Once the Ceremony had ended, everyone formed a tunnel along the winding path with cones full of dried flowers, ready for Danielle and Jamie to celebrate finally getting to be a married couple.
Festival-Style Wedding Reception
After group shots on the lawn we all went over to Thornsett Fields Farm for the Reception. A huge barn stood before us, lined with bales of straw, wooden trestle tables, a bar (also made from bales of straw!), and a make-shift kitchen. Hardy’s Events & Catering, headed by Lou, set up shop in the kitchen, preparing endless beautifully presented canapés, followed by perfectly cooked pink Lamb with Hasselback Potatoes, roast carrots and crispy kale. The platters of homemade beetroot brownies, mini fruit tartlets and fresh berries finished the meal beautifully.
Speech Time
Time for speeches, starting with Danielle’s dad who gave a funny, emotional and witty account of Danielle’s childhood and other encounters. He then handed the mic over to Jamie, with a mixture of funny and lovely stories to share, followed by his 2 Best Men who were polite, witty and not at all cringy – as some double-act Best Men speeches often are!
The Quiz that followed the speeches, directed by the Best Men, kept the guests entertained whilst we snook out with Danielle and Jamie to capture some of the scenic views with just the two of them. Looking across the breath-taking vista was a great time for them to take a little time out and gave us the opportunity to take some really lovely portrait photos too.
Evening Party
‘The One Step’ had quietly set up during the Quiz so soon started the evening party with some lively tunes to get everyone up on their feet again. With Danielle & Jamie’s Reggae style first dance the atmosphere quickly picked up pace and soon the dancefloor was packed. The music varied across the years and genres keeping the floor busy for hours.
Outside, you could smell the freshly made pizzas as the guests started to form a queue for the evening food. Jordy’s Pizzas chefs showed off their skills in creating beautiful mouth-watering pizzas, quickly but effortlessly making sure every guest received the perfect pizza every time!
The dancing continued well into the small hours when the mini-buses reappeared to take the guests back home. A really beautiful day, just as Danielle and Jamie had planned.
