Finally the Big Day!
Well, Caitlin and Alastair finally got their dream day. This day had been planned for so long by Caitlin, the most organised bride ever, and every single detail was in place. Even the weather didn’t disappoint with a warm sunny mid-April day with just a gentle breeze. The sunlight streamed through the windows, creating a beautiful, soft warm light at the very exquisite Arley Hall.
Bride preparations took place upstairs with pastries and Processo and lots of pampering by the hair and make-up artists. Caitlin’s mum kept a watchful eye, and a running commentary from the window as the guests arrived on foot along the long entrance to the hall.
Alastair and his groomsmen finished getting ready in the Library, helping each other with tricky details like tie fastening, handkerchief folding and especially buttonhole attaching. It seemed that Alastair was the only one with a flair for all of these activities!
The Grand Entrance
After some photos with her bridesmaids in her stunning wedding dress with a cathedral-length veil, Caitlin and her dad made their descent down the sweeping grand staircase and onto the Ceremony Room. A string quartet greeted them with beautiful harmonic classical music, including Pachelbel Canon in D for Caitlin’s bridal procession entrance.
Fresh Confetti Flowers
As all the guests left the Ceremony Room for the front of the Hall for a confetti photo they were given a pot of fresh flower heads and petals. These were so pretty and not something we have seen before, just another creative little detail of the day.
Gin Sorbet Anyone?
Gin and Sorbet or even a ‘Gin Sorbet’ as the Gin Bar with a huge choice of tipples and garnishes and boozy sorbets and clotted cream ice cream from Isabelle’s Ice Cream Cart were being served up when we returned into the Grand Hall. We then headed off with Caitlin and Alastair around the stunning and very beautiful gardens with incredibly manicured hedges and a colourful scented array of Spring flowers for some lovely portrait photos.
The Gardens at Arley Hall
Every avenue we walked down and every corner we turned, were more stunning views and so many choices for places to pause for some photos. Members of the public stopped to give their best wishes and clearly happy to come across a stunning couple in the gardens. Caitlin and Alastair took us to a ‘secret garden’ they have previously discovered which was idyllic, peaceful, and just perfect.
As we returned to the Hall, their Wedding Breakfast was about to be served with speeches beforehand to steady the nerves of those not so used to public speaking and offer a stage for the more proficient.
After the beautifully created meal and cake cutting, we headed back out as the light had melted into a golden glow and we headed to a different part of the gardens only to discover a lawn full of brightly coloured tulips and a wrought iron pagoda, just as the sun was about to set for the day.
The Perfect Day
For the Evening Reception, we all moved across to the Olympic Barn for the First Dance with a live band and some pretty cool dancefloor action! After Hog Roast, striking a pose for the Photo Booth and a bit of time for mingling with guests, we headed out for a final wander around the stunning grounds of Arley Hall for a relaxed few nighttime photos with Caitlin and Alastair whilst they reflected on just how perfect their perfect day had been!
The perfect ending to a perfect day!!
