FEATURED LINKS
Weather seems to be a continual thread in my blog at this time of year, although this morning I did really have to take notice as they had closed the M1 motorway near the venue due to excess snow! So we swapped the gear into my 4×4 pickup, and set off extra early. Thankfully we arrived in plenty of time, although the roads close to Chesford Grange were treacherous, lots of snow on untreated roads.
Warwick ceremony
The wedding was held in Pageant House in the centre of Warwick, and was an intimate affair. There we met Sigurdas, who appeared to have a fantastic sense of humour, despite our problems conversing due to my lack of Lithuanian vocabulary! A friendly smile is all you need.
Ruta looked very glamorous with a full length wedding cloak, which came in very useful in these sub-zero conditions. I did get the sense that as they were Lithuanian, they were somewhat better prepared for the snowy conditions than we are in Britain. Ruta and Sigurdas had no problems foot-steeping through the snow throughout the day.
The speeches, held mainly in Lithuanian seemed beautiful and full of emotion, and everyone got a turn to speak, which was lovely.
Rezginele Wedding dance
What came next we certainly weren’t prepared for…. boy these kids can dance! Wow, afterwards I had to do a little research… I believe this part is called ‘Rezginele.’ Everyone should get a chance to dance one of these. Seemingly endless dancing with the bride and groom in the centre, and the guests holding hands circling the happy couple in the middle. I have no idea where Ruta and Sigurdas got their energy from.
Mr and Mrs Buracas, thank you for the privilege of photographing your wonderful wedding day!
