I spent a wonderful evening photographing a charity fashion show hosted by Eventgers, Event Management Students from the University of Chester. A bit different from my normal Chester wedding photography gigs, but I enjoyed every moment. Great fun, and supporting a really worthwhile cancer charity – Look Good Feel Better
In the words of the students –
We are Eventgers, a group of second-year Events Management students studying at the University of Chester. We are currently organising a charity fashion show for the charity ‘Look Good Feel Better’. The show will be held on the 26th February 2019 at St. Mary’s Creative Space in Chester, as part of our graded module titled ‘The Live Event’.
Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) is the only cancer support charity providing free support for people struggling with the visible side effects of cancer treatment. They run confidence boosting Workshops across the UK for people of any age, undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. They’re dedicated to improving their wellbeing and self-esteem, and many beneficiaries feel LGFB helped them gain a sense of control and normality at a time when diagnosis and treatment had taken over their lives.
The money we raise will aid these sessions by providing more local workshops for those fighting against cancer. There are currently monthly sessions held within the Countess of Chester Hospital however spaces are limited to 12 attendees, we hope that the money we donate will allow the charity to hold these workshops more frequently or provide the volunteers with more training and equipment to support the attendees further.
More recently, the charity has launched their new programme to aid males living with cancer, after successfully supporting women for 24 years.
These sessions are led by the charities beauty volunteers, not only are they a confidence booster for those who attend but they are also an opportunity for those involved to meet other people in a similar situation. These workshops do not just help with the physical aspects but also the emotional and psychological aspects too.
We would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to support our event as we truly believe our event has the potential to raise both funding through donations but also much-needed awareness for the “Look Good Feel Better” charity. Anything given would be very much appreciated by ourselves and the charity.
